I took a photo to track my calories, and an app I use found this place for me. The sushi rolls fit my remaining calories and were tasty. The restaurant is quiet and clean.

Excellent food. Very quick service (felt a bit rushed, but it’s ok). Place was a bit dark. Other patrons weren’t too loud. We ordered two rolls and green bean tempura, all of which were delicious. We asked for spicy mayo but didn’t expect we were going to be charged for it.

Wow! Our newfound Japanese restaurant! We've been going to all the regular ones around town and noticed bar 29 as we were driving by. It's not the most obvious restaurant on that corner but definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants in Santa Barbara! When you walk in there's plenty of tables they've even got a nice little back room. It has an open kitchen and will have specials on their chalkboard wall. The service was absolutely impeccable. My wife and I had their happy hour specials which go from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.. We then continued to have a couple rolls and they were very good! My advice is to try this place out, parking is easy and the food is excellent.

Alright, you gotta hit up Sushi Bar 29 in Santa Barbara with the fam, and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Hurricane Roll and the Red Dragon Roll, and out of the two, the Hurricane was the clear winner. Had that perfect crunch from the tempura, spicy tuna on top was solid, and while it could have used a little more sauce, once I hit it with some eel sauce, game over. So good. If you go, I would highly recommend getting the spicy edamame too. Whatever sauce they coat it in just hits, and honestly, it brought the Red Dragon Roll to life. I would even suggest the chef toss that same sauce on some of the other rolls because it adds a whole new flavor to the mix. The fam also ordered the tuna nuggets, basically spicy tuna on crispy rice, and they were fire. Great texture and flavor. We paired them with some gyoza, tempura green beans, and more edamame, and everything came out quick and tasted great. Service was super sweet and on it with all the orders and refills. Friendly and fast. It is a small spot tucked on the corner, kind of a hidden gem type feel, but the fish quality was on point, and everything we had was fresh and flavorful. Surprised how good everything was to be honest

Overall decidedly mediocre and pretty bland sushi. The service was very friendly. The popcorn shrimp was pretty good and we really enjoyed it. The sushi came pretty quickly, but was the least flavorful sushi I have had in a long long time. Two of the rolls we ordered we supposed to be spicy, but were not. The fried muscle roll was the only one that was different or unique and it was just ok.
